This week, the 7th and 8th graders are participating in a Hip Hop Workshop.
Monday through Thursday, Sheikia “Purple” Norris, former Director of Hip Hop education at NJPAC, will be working with our 7th and 8th grade ELA classes on a collaborative Hip Hop project/presentation tied to our current content. Ms. Norris will be teaching mini lessons on the history and art of Hip Hop Culture, and then guiding students in the lyric writing and drafting process. The week will culminate with a group Hip Hop presentation!
Among many of our lesson objectives, we ultimately hope that students learn the power of their voice and collective contribution through creative self expression.
We are excited for to see how the week unfolds.
